Rumor Mill
Update #4 7/1/2025
Company Management has advised you of a lot of information on their website and in emails, PLEASE be aware this information is not completely truthful. Be mindful that this information has been in the law books since 1935!
The IAM would like to clarify the following information that your management team at Pratt & Whitney has provided you:
- Pratt & Whitney values the current relationships and interactions it has with its employees and does not want that to change. We do not believe it is necessary to engage a third party when working with our employees. NOT TRUE
The IAM Machinists UNION or any Union is NOT a third party. A UNION is an organization of workers themselves, representing their collective interests in negotiations with their employer. Unionized shops do not prevent Management of supervisors from engaging with the workers. Having a collective bargaining agreement gives you the opportunity to be heard in the workplace and negotiate fairly with the employer. YOU are the ones negotiating YOUR contract with Pratt & Whitney. Collective Bargaining simply levels the playing field.
- Through collective bargaining, employees may get less than, more than or the same as they had before collective bargaining.
This scare tactic is one we see from every employer during an organizing campaign. Receiving less what you have now has been the trend from Pratt & Whitney in the past and as you continue to dedicate your labor and time, your support from them will not change. Records show that forming a union and placing the legal obligation on an employer to bargain will always benefit the workers. The only side that would propose something less would be Pratt & Whitney. Did you know that once the UNION is voted in, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE NOW remains the same? Currently Pratt & Whitney can change anything they want.
- We are legally obligated to hand over your private information to the union. This includes the following information we have on file for these individuals:
- Name
- Home address
- Home phone
- Cell number
- Personal email address
Although the Company DOES in fact have the legal obligation to hand over information, what they failed to tell you is management received a letter from the IAM UNION instructing them to withhold any information besides the names. The names are to verify current employees and their voting eligibility ensuring that the election is fair and secure from any fraudulent attempts to skew the election.

Update #2 6/27/2025
Voting is expected to take place in the training room. Keep in mind whether you are on shift, on vacation, on a day off, or on medical, you are entitles to vote anytime the voting location is open. Election dates are set by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Update #3 6/30/2025
Important Read! You will have strange visitors as we lead up to your election.
Union persuaders and anti-union consultants commonly violate the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) by interfering with employees’ rights to organize and bargain collectively. This includes tactics like threatening, interrogating, or spying on employees or promising benefits to influence their vote during union campaigns.
Additionally, they are required to disclose their activities under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA), and failure to do so is against the Law.
If you have a capacitive audience meeting or a one-on-one, ask the stranger in front of you if they filed their required document (LM20) with the Office of Labor and Management standards and if they registered as a persuader as required by law for transparency for workers during an organizing campaign.
Expect a funny look or a non-response, because they will be surprised the workers at Pratt are educated on this subject.
They fear you will see how much they are being paid which is required to post on OLMS.gov and they must express they are a persuader by checking the proper box on the LM20 form registered with OLMS. Each persuader has a consultant number – ask for their number.
The Best Defense Against a Persuader is Exposure
